Christmas in Dublin: Thing To Do

Studying at our English school in Dublin? If you’re not going home for the Christmas period you’ll no doubt be looking for some things to do. Whilst winter in Dublin is cold it is also so much fun. Around Christmas there are a range of events and activities to keep busy. And to get you in the festive mood. Here is just a small selection of things you can do:

    Christmas at the Castle

    Dublin Castle / Sun 17th December 2017 / 18:00

Dublin Castle is beautiful all year round but especially at Christmas. Join the celebration and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city with a choral Christmas concert with the junior and senior choirs of Cantairí Óga Átha Cliath. You’ll hear some of the finest festive choral music and get a real taste of Christmas in Dublin.

‘Christmas Present, Christmas Past!’ Victorian Christmas

    Irish Family History Centre / Sat 16th December 2017 / 10:30

Travel back in time to the Victorian era to find out how it has influenced Christmas as we know it today. Throughout the event you will get to explore a very Victorian Christmas through a series of festive activities.

    Latin Christmas Fest 2017

    Archbishop Byrne Hall / Sat 16th December 2017 / 14:00

This free event celebrates Latin American dance, music, food and much more this Christmas. It’s a non-profit event to join Latino communities in Dublin including people from Mexico, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Brazil, Chile and Spain.

    Portmarnock Christmas Craft Fair

    St Anne’s Parish Centre, Portmarnock / Sat 9th Dec 2017, 10:30 – Sun 10th Dec 2017, 16:30

Visit the fair for wonderful hand crafted Christmas gifts such as Jewellery, Cards, Victorian Crafts, Knitting, Home Baking, Stained Glass and lots more. A Christmas fair really gives you a taste of what Christmas means to people in Ireland and there are a range of hot drinks on offer to keep your hands warm!

    Ice Skating

Blanchardstown / Throughout December and January

A trip to an ice skating rink is a fun afternoon well spent. At the rink in Blanchardstown they even have Student Wednesdays with discounted tickets. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an ice skating professional it’s an amazing experience. Be sure to bring your gloves!
