    Top Day Trips From Liverpool

    Liverpool is a wonderful location to study English and with NCG you can do just that, by enrolling on at our English language school in Liverpool.

    The National Trust’s Formby

    This protected area is an absolute must-visit whenever you’re in Liverpool, boasting miles of magnificent beaches, dramatic sand dunes and curious coastal pine woodlands. It’s owned by the National Trust, and offers plenty for visitors to see and do.

    Enjoy wonderful walks on the the sands and shallows at low tide, or explore the rich history of Formby’s prehistoric footprints. If you just wish to relax, you can simply soak up the sun as you leisurely stroll down one of the many nature trails.

     

    Crosby Beach

    Speaking of beaches, Crosby beach is very close to Liverpool, and offers visitors a 2.5 mile stretch of scenic coastline to discover. It has previously been awarded the Keep Britain Tidy’s Quality Coast Award back in 2011, and is ideal for viewing ships across the water whilst having a picnic in the sun.

    Since 2007, the beach has also been the permanent home of Antony Gormley’s ‘Another Place’ sculptures. A series of cast iron figures along the beach that all face out towards the sea.

     

    Lake District National Park

    One of the nearest national parks to Liverpool is the Lake District, which happens to be the   largest in England. The mountainous region in North West England offers up walking routes with breathtaking views, beautiful lakes, along with an abundance of stunning skylines and scenery.

    Some of The Lake District’s highlights include Derwentwater and Windermere, which are well worth a visit. If you’re staying in Liverpool make sure that you take the time to take in this hugely popular holiday destination.

     

    Chester Zoo

    All you need to do is hop on a train for about an hour or take a 40 minute or so drive and before you know it, you’ll be at the UK’s most popular zoo. Chester Zoo offers a wealth of wonderful wildlife and immersive habitats to see and explore, with over 21,000 exotic and endangered animals across 125 acres of award-winning gardens.

    With over 500 different species to see, from penguins to porcupines, together with daily animal talks and events, there’s so much to see with a day out at the zoo.

     

    Speke Hall

    If you fancy something a bit different and want to stay in the centre of the city, then Speke Hall could be right up your street. The 16th century Tudor manor, which was restored in the 19th century, offers visitors a piece of Gothic history and Shakespearean tragedy.

    Picturesque gardens and woodlands surround the impressive Tudor-Victorian architecture, which happens to be one of the oldest buildings in the area, with parts dating back to around the 1530s.
