    Our Junior Summer Schools run during the summer months in Manchester (Salford) and Portsmouth for international students aged 12-17. Our dedicated programmes help young learners to develop their English language skills while providing them with an unforgettable experience abroad, packed full of exciting social activities and countless opportunities to make friends with like-minded people from across the globe.

    About Salford

     

    Hosted on the University of Salford campus, the Salford programme runs for six weeks. Half-day excursions include visits to Manchester Museum and John Rylands Library, while Saturday trips feature Liverpool, York and Chester visits.

    The University of Salford is a self-contained campus on the outskirts of Manchester and is our larger summer school, offering a busy and varied activities programme.

    About Portsmouth

     

    Set on the University of Portsmouth campus, this four-week programme offers a vibrant city-centre experience.

    Half-day excursions visit Portsmouth city centre, including attractions such as the Spinnaker Tower and Southsea Castle.

    The University of Portsmouth is a city campus, allowing staff and students to be out and about in the city every day.

    English Language Teacher

    This role involves teaching 30 hours of English per week to international teenagers, along with related administrative duties.

     

    English Language Teacher & Activities Leader

    This role combines two positions: 15 hours of English Language Teaching and 28 hours of student activities, meetings, planning and support duties per week.

    Operations Assistant

    The Operations Assistants will work shifts based in NCG’s Manchester Head Office, directly supporting and working with the Junior Summer School and Groups Manager to provide administrative support to the regional summer centres. This is a hybrid role with some in-office hours and some work-from home hours. 

    Sports & Activities Leader

    Sports & Activities Leaders deliver the summer school activities programme, leading a wide range of sports, games, creative sessions and social events. They also provide pastoral support, supervise students at the residence, meet students at airports, and lead and accompany students on excursions.

    Welfare Officer

    Welfare Officers proactively support student wellbeing, responding to emerging welfare issues to safeguard both mental and physical health. Duties include managing pastoral and medical concerns, overseeing on-site accommodation, welcoming new arrivals, and acting as a key point of contact for Group Leaders and the management team.

    New College Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and all staff are expected to share this commitment. Therefore, all references will be followed up, gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily and appropriate suitability checks will be required prior to appointment. A DBS check will be requested in the event of a successful application, together with a Police check from any country where you have lived for more than six months in the past five years.
